This sake set was going for $10.  The seller said that she bought it in Japan.
IMG_4345

The seller of this brass eating utensil set was selling the set for $200.  The case on the left had two more trays below that pulled out.
IMG_4349

These were going for 50 cents each.  The seller had a ton of these.

IMG_4418

I shoulda told Geri to "drop that trout", but I neva and she bought it.  Dunno how much she paid. She said she got it for her dog Star to play with. Wonder if Star's gonna like it.  The fish is like twice her size.
IMG_4421

I paid $1 for this Space Needle construction kit.  What am I gonna do with a Space Needle construction kit?  I think I bought it cause the seller made me laugh when he told Geri . . .
IMG_4435

"Whaaaa . . . you bought that fish, but you won't buy my paper?"
IMG_4433

She did buy this 3-hole puncher and stapler kit for $1 each from the guy though.
IMG_4436

Here's something else that I bought that I don't need . . . rubber stamps. The guy said I could have the two bags for 4 bucks!  I stood there, stomped the ground and said, "NOOOOOOOO!!"  And I bought um.  Anybody want um?   I'm not even gonna open up the bags . . . they're so nicely tied up. From what I can see got some cute ones.  Let me know.  You gotta pick um up though.

Wendell's Chicken Linguine

Just when I thought I had nothing to blog about today, Wendell goes and makes a new dish!  This pasta dish calls for ranch dressing and mustard!  Different yah!

IMG_4333

12 ounces of linguine
1 c. ranch dressing
1/3 c. Dijon mustard
8 boneless chicken breasts, sliced
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. white wine
8 mushrooms, sliced

Cook linguine according to package directions.   Drain.  Pour into oiled baking dish. Stir together dressing and mustard, set aside.

Saute chicken and mushrooms in butter.  Transfer cooked chicken/mushroom to bed of linguine.  Add wine to skillet; cook until reduced to desired consistency.  Drizzle over chicken. Pour the reserved dressing/mustard mixture over chicken.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes or until dressing forms a golden brown crust.

Art in Public Places

I usually park my car at Pearl Ridge Elementary School when we go to the swap meet.  Don't know why I never noticed this sculpture before. On the upper right hand corner of the plaque situated below the sculpture, it says "Art in Public Places".

I went online just now and found the following:  The Art in Public Places Program commissions works of art (original art projects that are contracted by the APP Program) for permanent installation at specific state public places.  These project sites, such as state public schools, community colleges, libraries and airports, are identified and proposed for works of art by the HSFCA (Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Funding is requested in the biennial budget, presented within the Executive Budget, to the Hawai‘i State Legislature.  You can find more info here.

I wonder how many pieces there are around the island . . . probably a lot and I never even noticed.

Swap Meet 4/21/2012

See these clouds??  It was wonderful having them around this past Saturday at the Kam Swap Meet.  They kept the temperatures from getting too hot like it sometimes does. IMG_4104

As soon as we arrived Geri spotted this stained glass lamp.  Geri learned how to make stained glass creations so she knows the work and craftsmanship involved.  We "drilled" the price down from $15 to $12, and despite the few cracks and dents, that was a great price.  What eventually prevented Geri from buying it was the fact that we had just gotten there and she would have had to lug it around the entire time we were there.  We did go back to the spot on our way out, but the seller was already gone.
IMG_4072

Another seller was selling a bunch of these little girl tutus for $3 each. We didn't get any tutus.
IMG_4076

But Geri did buy this "Three Eye" macrame glass decoration for $3 from her.
IMG_4079

I had to tell her to "put down the monkey" when I spotted her looking at this.
IMG_4077

This chili shirt was selling for $1.
IMG_4083

Elmo cap was going for $3.
IMG_4084

IMG_4087

IMG_4089

Geri bought this red woolen beret for $1.  I loved when she put it on because she was so easy to spot then.
IMG_4092

From within this pile of utensils . . .
IMG_4097

I found this Cutco kitchen scissors and paid $2 for it. After I got home I checked Ebay and saw some used ones selling for about $30.  Hooo hooo!!
IMG_4099

I also bought this clamp thing from that pile for $1 and gave them to Didi. She was looking for something like this to use for pulling out fishbones.
IMG_4100

Didi bought this grater for $1.
IMG_4102

Randy spotted us and gave us the most awesome greetings.
IMG_4110

IMG_4107

When I saw this Ugly Doll I just had to get it.  It was $1.
IMG_4113

This is why I "had to get it".  It matches my other Ugly Doll that Les bought for me from New York awhile back.  Soooo cute yah!
IMG_4163

Didi bought these YY tea cups for 25 cents each!  Bargain hah!
IMG_4116

These two sellers were adjacent to each other and just as I passed by they were trading items with each other.  I thought it was so funny.
IMG_4120

This bamboo cutting board was selling for $2.
IMG_4122

Firemen's boots were going for $25 each.
IMG_4123

I couldn't resist . . . I bought this book for $1.  Do you remember the story?  The first Chinese brother could swallow the sea. The second Chinese brother had an iron neck. The third Chinese brother could stretch and stretch his legs.  The fourth Chinese brother could not be burned. And the fifth Chinese brother could hold his breath indefinitely.  Remember?
IMG_4126

It started to rain and I took cover under a tent.  Across the way I could see that Geri wasn't even fazed by the drops.
IMG_4128

Even Didi continued looking even as this seller attempted to cover her stuff.  Die-hards yah!
IMG_4130

I bought this stapler for just one buck. Good deal . . . except I don't really need a stapler . . .
IMG_4134

This chili corned beef was selling for $3.25.
IMG_4138

Don't know how much this phonograph was selling for . . .
IMG_4140

IMG_4154

Afterwards we went to Bangkok Chef in Manoa to eat.  We kinda ordered the same stuff that I blogged about here.  We ate so much that we were complaining about how full we were . . . but that didn't stop us from ordering dessert.  No sir-eeee.  Geri got this mango jello dessert.  It was really good . . . very refreshing and tasty.  She kept saying, "Mmmmm!!" after every bite.IMG_4159

I ordered this Mango Ice Cream dessert. The ice cream is served over warm sticky rice and is sprinkled with peanuts. Didi didn't like it.  I loooooved it.  Maybe that's why Didi is so skinny and I'm so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!IMG_4155
