Taro Ko Chips Giveaway

Last summer I called Dale Nagamine and asked if I could order some Taro Ko chips.  He said that he didn't have any taro so there were no chips for sale.  He said that I should try call back again in September.  I finally called him a few weeks ago and asked if he was still making chips.  He said, "Yes."!!!  If you don't know about these special, only-made-and-sold-in-Hanapepe taro chips, click here to learn more about them.  I ordered 20 bags for me and 20 bags for Landon.   I only got two bags left . . . the two that I had set aside for this prize giveaway.  I meant to go shopping this past weekend to enhance the prize package but didn't get the chance.  So I dug around my house and gathered up stuff to add to the giveaway.  If I don't do it now I'm gonna eat the two bags myself.

Okay, so we got two bags of Taro Ko chips.

Punchbowl Cemetery

I had never been to Punchbowl Cemetery on Memorial Day until today.  I waited until the end of the day to avoid the crowd.  It was impressive seeing all of the flags at each gravesite.

Special Olympics Summer Games 2011

The amount of manpower, work, organization and devotion involved in putting on these games of the Special Olympics is tremendous.  I remember being in awe at its magnitude when I first got involved with taking pictures at these events.  But it is so worth it. It is so worth it to witness the joy, pride and feelings of accomplishments felt by these special athletes. It is so worth it knowing that their very best efforts are being rewarded.  It is so worth it to watch the camaraderie formed by all involved.  It is often very touching.  And it never fails.  I cry every time.

Red Carpet at Yogur Story

After dropping Kaori off for her graduation ceremony at McKinley High School, we needed to kill a couple of hours before the start of the program. So me, CQ, Jac and Connor meandered around and eventually ended up at Yogur Story.  I kinda hate that name "Yogur".  It makes me feel incomplete.   I wish I knew the "Story" of what happened to the "t".

We weren't really hungry.  We really just needed someplace cool to sit.  But we did order this Red Carpet waffle ($9.95) to share.
IMG_0863a

It's best described here.  It was ono.  But good thing we were only killing time and weren't hungry 'cause it sure took a long time for the waffle to come.  And they weren't even busy.
IMG_0856a

Don't know why my fresh lemonade ($3.35) looks so milky in this picture.  It wasn't in real life.  I really liked it. . . so refreshing after the walk in the sun.  I tasted CQ's Calamansi/mint tea ($3.95).  It was good too.
IMG_0855a

This is Jacob's Strawberry Italian Soda ($3.50).  He was kinda dissappointed.  It tasted like seltzer water with a bit of cream in it.
IMG_0866a

When Connor woke up from his nap, CQ got him some frozen yogurt.  I haven't had frozen yogurt in years. . . ever since I got major diarrhea from FroYo.  I tasted a bit of Connor's Honeydew and it was oh so ono.  I need to go back again to get some for myself.

It was a great place to relax, and in no time we had to head back to the graduation ceremony.
